Why paahijen?
We observed that, though there is a large community of Indian net users, there are not many applications that are enabled in users' language. We found that this was a serious limitation. To solve this problem, 'paahijen' was conceived. It was considered important that the users should be able to use 'paahijen' anywhere without having to install any software on their computer. Thus only requirement 'paahijen' has is 'The browser supports Unicode and Indic fonts rendering', which is true for most of the modern operating systems and browsers. 'paahijen' works today in FireFox 1.5+ (Windows and Linux) and IE 5.5+ (Windows).
Why ScratchPad?
We always wanted to write blogs in 'our own' language. Further we realized that while writing, some words are better written in marathi/hindi and some words are better written in 'english'. We didn't find any tool that could do this in an 'easy to use' manner. We realized that this was something missing and while we solve the problem for ourselves, it will be better if we fix this for others too. Thus 'ScratchPad' was born, to allow people to input text using ASCII (normal english) keyboard and get an output in their language. This they can use anywhere, some of the places we thought it could be useful is writing emails, blogs or scraps. Of course thats what we think and we are sure there are many more ways the users would find it useful.
Why TagWise?
With local languages, 'online advertisements' isn't the first thing that comes to mind. Actually, we often found that there should be a platform for 'requesting' something you want or 'offering' something you have. Instead of having catagories and subcatagories for your posts, we thought it'd be easier if we let you decide how you want it and just 'tag' it accordingly. Others can then search using tags. We decided to take it a step further by differentiating some tags from others by assigning them importance, which will come into play when user searches for tags. Thus 'TagWise' was born. Of course, one can use his/her language in 'TagWise'.
